Although there is no cure for arthritis, certain foods have been proved to fight inflammation, improve the immune system and strengthen bones.

The following foods will help your arthritic symptoms:

  • Omega-3 Fatty acids which can be found in salmon, tuna, mackerel and herring
  • Soybeans
  • Green tea which is packed with antioxidants and polyphenols which will reduce inflammation and cartilage degeneration
  • Virgin Olive oil has properties similar to non-steroidal and anti-inflammatory drugs. Walnut, safflower and avocado oils are full of omega-3
  • Cherries, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries will reduce the amount of gout attacks
  • Cheese, milk and yogurt are full of calcium and vitamin D which will strengthen bones
  • Broccoli contains sulforaphane which helps prevent osteoarthritis
  • Whole grains reduce C-reactive protein in the blood and help with rheumatoid arthritis. Foods like brown rice, whole-grain cereals and oatmeal are great sources of whole grain
  • Oranges, lime and grapefruits prevents inflammatory arthritis and maintains healthy joints
  • Garlic reduces cartilage-damaging enzymes in cells
  • Nuts are packed with calcium, magnesium, zinc, protein and vitamin E found in walnuts, almonds, pistachios and pine nuts
